![]() ![]() If we want to wake up in a good mood, sleeping on the right note is a great idea. Don’t let the sun go down on your anger, and don’t give the devil an opportunity.” (Ephesians 4:26-27) His love is not dependent on that of people. Whatever discomfort we face, God cares for us. Going to bed with a looming divorce, a strained relationship or an ask-risk job can feel very unpleasant. “Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord cares for me.” (Psalm 27:10) However, deciding to rejoice in Him will lead to many more days ending positively. We can choose to be bitter with God, upset that He hasn’t blessed us in desired ways. I will say it again: Rejoice!” (Philippians 4:4) If we can take a step back and remember who holds the world in place, we’ll see that what appears dire to us is nothing compared to God’s sovereignty. And really, sometimes we focus too much on ourselves. Sometimes we struggle with anxiety, depression, and doubt because we focus too much on our situations. “When I observe your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon, and the stars, which you set in place, what is a human being that you remember him, a son of man that you look after him?” (Psalm 8:3-4) That’s a helpful truth to remember during any sleepless night. When we find peace in Him, we don’t lose it due to circumstances. God is not prone to fallibility like people. That’s why His peace is perfect, and the world is not. ![]() Trust in God is very different from trust in the world. “You will keep the mind that is dependent on you in perfect peace, for it is trusting in you.” (Isaiah 26:3) This is a promise from God that all things work together for good. No matter how long your dark season lasts, those nights spent crying are all for a purpose. ![]() Sometimes those bad days are consecutive and seem to go on forever. There will be good days and there will be bad days throughout our entire lives. “We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God, who are called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28) He will lead us into peace and a place where all our needs are met. This verse from David reminds us that God acts as a guide for those who choose to follow Him. I will repeat it: Rejoice! He leads me beside quiet waters.” (Psalm 23:1-3) He lets me lie down in green pastures Rejoice in the Lord always. “The Lord is my shepherd I have what I need. Every day doesn’t include what we ask of Him, but every day includes Him giving us what we need. What a positive way to end the day, expressing gratitude and contentment with what God has provided. “This is the day the Lord has made let’s rejoice and be glad in it.” (Psalm 118:24) The more you know Scripture, the more you can use God’s Word in your time of need. If you’re interested in going to bed on the right side, consider these Bible verses to end your day. Colossians 3:2 tells us, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”Įasier said than done, but so worthwhile. We’ll learn more about Scripture, deepen our relationship in prayer, grow into the image of Christ, and find ourselves focusing less on the world, and more on what the eye does not see. Establishing a rhythm with God is bound to produce fruit in our lives. Ideally, as our first love, God should be who we seek first when a day starts and ends. ![]() If we make plans to connect with God first thing in the morning, why not pray to Him as our last act of the night? We sometimes joke about waking up on the wrong side of the bed, but we don’t talk nearly enough about sleeping on the right side. ![]()

![]() Red & Blue received widespread critical praise and has been ranked among the greatest video games ever released. Whether splitting the games up this way is consumer-unfriendly remains up for debate even now, but there’s no denying that it has contributed heavily to building a genuine sense of community among Pokéfans throughout the years. Though the plot remained the same across both versions, each one provided eleven exclusive Pokémon for players to find and catch, all but ensuring that they’d either need to buy both versions or have friends to trade with in order to collect all 151 pocket monsters and complete their Pokédex. Red & Blue also set the standard for having two versions of each Pokémon game release. It’s not surprising, then, that Nintendo and developer GameFreak opted to make the games turn-based RPGs, serving as many kids’ very first introduction to the genre altogether and possibly even helping it to gain popularity in the years that followed. ![]() These 1998 handheld titles brought with them a level of success unlike anything the world had ever seen, rapidly infecting millions of kids (and plenty of adults, too) with Poke-fever.Īs the very first Pokémon video game installments, Red & Blue laid the foundation of the franchise and introduced gamers around the world to the concept of collecting, trading, and battling Pokémon. Almost no childhood was complete in the 90s without a Game Boy and a copy of Pokémon Red or Pokémon Blue – or both, if you were the kind of pocket monster collector who absolutely had to collect literally every one. ![]() ![]() Pitches’ sizes were: 102 (± 4) × 66.5 (± 2) meters in professional matches and 100 × 66 meters in U-17 one. Tests were systematically done at the same local time, in order to avoid differences due to circadian variations ( 10). Testing order was the same in every collecting session. The tested team was ranked among the top 5, played against a top 10 team (first match) and won, and played against a bottom 3 team (second match) and lost, during the 28th and 29th day (over 38) of the French championship. For professional players who played at least 85 minutes in every game, blood samples, perceived fatigue, muscle soreness, and heart rate were collected the day before (PRE), the day after (POST24) and two days after (POST48) the two analysed games (n = 16 players). U-17 players who played at least 85 minutes in the game were tested (20 m sprint ability, heart rate at rest) and questioned (perceived fatigue and muscle soreness) two days before (PRE), the day after (POST24) and two days after (POST48) the match. ![]() Tests and measures are quite complex to make before and after an official soccer match, as they are rarely compatible with match preparation and recovery procedures.Īll participants were familiar with the applied protocol tests (physical tests, heart rate measurement and the use of perceived fatigue questionnaire) since they were fully included in the individual monitoring made by staff of the club. To the knowledge of the authors, no previous research has analysed fatigue marker development among professional soccer players after a competitive match. ![]() ( 3) have found that simulated match inflammatory responses increased until 72 hours among Greek elite players. Reports from this study are limited by the simulated match protocol, which would be quite far from physical and psychological strains of competitive match. ( 6) have analysed kinetic post match fatigue of professional soccer players and have found that 48 hours were enough to recover from peripheral fatigue factors such as sprint ability, maximal voluntary activation and contraction and EMG activity. Furthermore, the distribution of weekly load differs from one professional soccer team to another, making it even more difficult the simultaneously analyse those many teams. However among male top-class professionals, recovery-training sessions could be planned the day after the match and some references on their recovery kinetic at 24 hours, 48 hours, and 72 hours post-match have been published. Players will need at least 72 hours to totally recover from muscles damages and oxidative stress imposed by a soccer match ( 3, 8, 9). Thus the relevance of studying correlations between difficulties perceived by players and blood markers has been identified. As it had been shown in sports like rugby, several correlations might exist between these markers, in particular blood markers and difficulty of sessions ( 7). ![]() Decrease of muscular glycogen ( 2), increase of creatine kinase (CK), leukocytes, lactate dehydrogenase, C-reactive protein, protein carbonyls, uric acid and delayed onset muscle soreness ( 3), heart rate (HR) variations ( 4), decrease of lower limb strength ( 5, 6) are effects induced by match intensity, match duration, game conditions and mostly the repetition of high level actions during the match. Many markers have been analysed to study physiological and physical aspects of this fatigue. Decrease of performance appears after high intensity actions, at the beginning of the second half and at the end of soccer match ( 1). ![]() Induced match fatigue has especially been the subject of many studies because it is the basis of all soccer player activities during the week (competition, training sessions, recovery, medical treatments, etc.). As Soccer is a universal socio-cultural keen interest, studying high-level practice foundations has been, for several decades, an obvious activity to deepen its knowledge. ![]() ![]() Luckily, you can pursue many different careers. Neither card could manage to play this intensive title at 4K, but the R9 285 led the way in this test. The story was repeated at 2,560 x 1,440, with the R9 285 matching its rival with its minimum framerate and pulling marginally ahead with its average. The former figure equalled the GTX 760, while the latter was half a frame ahead. In this demanding game, run at 1080p, the new AMD card scored minimum and average framerates of 30fps and 45.91fps. The R9 285 continued to impress in Crysis 3. The R9 285 fell behind the GTX 760 at every resolution, but neither card managed to get beyond 30fps – and the tiny slivers of time we’re talking about here means that the framerate drops won’t cause noticeable slow-downs during gameplay. The situation wasn’t so clear-cut when it came to minimum framerates. That’s the right side of 30fps, which is something we can’t say about Nvidia – its card faltered at 26.37fps. The R9 285 managed to play Bioshock at 4K with a smooth average framerate of 33.38fps. The R9 285 also outpaced its predecessor, which was at least five frames slower in every average framerate test. At 2,560 x 1,440, the R9 285 averaged 48.43fps – three frames better than its rival. At 1080p the R9 285 averaged 90.41fps, which was almost seven frames ahead of the GTX 760, and it maintained that advantage when we upped the pixel count. We hoped the R9 285’s updated architecture and Battlefield 4’s AMD-friendly coding would help the R9 285 pull clear of its older stablemate and the GTX 760 in this benchmark, but that wasn’t the case. No card was playable at 4K using our standard settings – in order to hit smooth framerates at this resolution, you’ll need to dial back the quality or buy a more expensive card. The three cards all hit minimums of 25fps or 26fps, but the factory-fresh R9 285’s average of 30.33fps was marginally behind both of its competitors. The mediocre form continued when we upped the resolution to 2,560 x 1,440. ![]() The latter fact gave us high hopes for the R9 285’s performance, but it got off to an inauspicious start: at 1080p its 37fps minimum equalled the GTX 760, but its 44.16fps average was half a frame behind the Nvidia card.
